What My First Semester of College Taught Me!

Growing up and going into high school everyone tells you that they will be some of the best years of your life. After spending a semester on my own with people that I am not related to I beg to differ. I am pretty sure nobody could pay me to go back to high school. But I would gladly redo my first semester, it makes me sad to think I only have 4 months left with the amazing girls I have come to know and love!

Through these first few months of college life I have learned a few things:

1. It is okay if you don't do as well as you anticipated. Everything happens for a reason and life will go on. If you don't make straight A's because you took a harder workload than you thought you could handle, it will all be okay. It doesn't mean you aren't smart, it simply means you had absolutely no idea what you were getting yourself into!

2. Believe people when they say your friends in high school don't necessarily become life long friends. I definitely found this to be true. I have known two girls who will be my best friends before I went to college, i have since found one more and I don't know what I would do if I was doing this whole "college" thing without her by my side.

*A few of my favorite friend quotes*

~Some people come into your life for a very specific reason.
~We crossed paths at exactly the right time.
~Good friends help you to find the most important things when you have lost them... your smile, your hope, and your courage.

3. I am a much pickier eater than I ever thought possible. Before leaving for school I had no idea I was picky. Probably because my family had grown accustomed to it and they would make and buy foods I would eat.

4. College is basically a glorified boarding school. Lets face it; you move away from home to spend all your time going to school and focusing on school. It is totally a boarding school.

5. Most importantly I have learned that everyone comes from different backgrounds. Sometimes this can be very bad, like when it comes to cleanliness, but most of the time it is a great thing. I love my roommates so much, I wouldn't change anyone of them. There might be some things we struggle with about each other, but when it comes down to it, we would be there to help each other in a heart beat. I could not have asked for better roommates. Love you girls more than you know! We are all our own kind of monster, yet we became friends anyway! :)

Summer Has Finally Arrived...

Yep, Summer is finally here. Ok, so it's been here for about two weeks, but that is not the point. This summer has already been off to a great start. To start things off, my family living in the Phillipines is here visiting. Not only are they here visiting but they are staying here with us. I love being able to spend time with my niece and nephew. My nephew is a NUT!!! I could seriously spend hours just watching his facial expressions, and trying to figure out how his brain works. He is so cute!! My niece is such a sweetheart. She is so proper, just to give an example, we were having dinner about two weeks ago and she started talking about a boy in her primary class. She said she didn't have a crush on him, but that he is very sweet and appropiate! Seriously, what 6 year old says that!! She is just so sweet. I love her so much!

Now, on to the rest of my summer thus far! Well, to start things off i have been talking to a really great friend! I forgot how much i missed talking to him. :) I am loving stay up late and being able to sleep in!
During school this year I took the CNA class and I am so glad I did. I sent my papers in this last friday so that I can get my test voucher and be able to take the tests I have to take. I am so excited! I can't wait to be able to get a job! With any luck I will be able to work with my best friend at the nursing home she works at (as a CNA as well).

I have a few goals for this summer they are:
 ~ Get SUN!!!
~ Swim Lots - I have a pool, I just need to use it!
 ~ Love Life
 ~ Get a Job
~ Have Fun!! - What is summer without fun??
~ Love going to Stake Girls Camp evne though stake is not my favorite! I love my ward!!

Two last things... This summer I am also going to be auditing an Anatomy class, I start tomorrow! I am super excited. You can definitely tell I am a nerd, what highschool student goes to a college class for FUN during their summer break, and will willingly take notes! That's right, This girls does!! :)  I also took the ACT test a week ago! I want my scores so bad! I can't wait to see if i did better than last time I took it! I just am so impatient. Well thanks for reading! Have a great summer! I will try to post again soon! I won't wait as long as i have been waiting. (Hopefully)

Its almost summer!! Life is CraZy!

I only have one more day of school, well if you don't count yearbook day! I am so excited! I am so sick of school, i haven't really been there mentally for about a month now. Life has been crazy lately. My sister-in-law, niece and nephew flew in from the Phillpines earlier this month, and they have been living with us! I have loved every minute of it! I love being able to be an aunt, and there is nothing better than your niece and nephew wanting to cuddle with you! It is so gratifying!

I will talk about school for a little bit more now. I have been in my highschool's anatomy and physiology class this year and before i say anything else let me just say how much i LOVE that class! It is seriously my very favorite class. Ok, so we had our finals in that class yes i did say finalsss. That was not an accident. My teacher gives us one so he has an idea of who will pass the state's final. So i hardly ever study, honstly because i haven't ever had to. So without studying i got a 78 on my teachers final. It was out of 100 but scored out of 90. I thought i was going to fail it. The average for that test was i think 60. So i felt pretty good about it! Then came the state's final. I still didn't study. In order to pass the test you had to get a 70%. In order to get a certificate you had to get above and 80%. I got a 91%!! Without studying! I am so impressed by myself. Only 2 people got over 90. Me and one other girl, she got a 99! Yeah, she is really smart. :) Anyway that is my exciting news in that class! I also took my english and math end of levels. Math were not so great. But i got a 89 on my english ones. So i am happy about that. So i am ending my final quarter of my Junior year with a much better GPA than any other quarters this year! I also took the CNA course this semester, and i got a 90 on my Final in that class so i get to certify! I am extremely excited abut that!!! :)

I don't really know what else to say other than i can't wait till school is over.
Well thanks for reading my blog, and sorry i am so bad at this lately!!

Not Much to Say, But I Guess I Will Say Something...

My spring break was great, it just went by WAY to fast! I didn't do very much except stay up WAY to late, and sleep in way to long! :) But isn't that what spring break is for. So, i don't have too much else to say about my break.

I am not really very good at keeping up on my blog, if you can't tell. I guess my life is pretty average so i don't really know what to make updates about... If anyone has any ideas i would love to hear them. Thanks. I guess that is it for this update. Sorry it is so boring. But thanks for reading it. I really appreciate it! I will try and be creative on my next post.

What a Wonderful General Conference.

This weekend i have had the wonderful opportunity to watch the LDS 182 Annual General Conference. It was amazing. I am so grateful to be a member of this church. I know i say that a lot but i really am. I would like to take a minute to talk about some of my favorite quotes from the Apostles, and the Prophet.
     - Elder Boyd K. Packer said this: "Children are the Inheritance of the Lord." I just love this quote because children really are so amazing. I love them.
     - Elder Donald L. Hallstrom said: "being active in the Church is not enough, You much be active in the Gospel"
     - Henry B. Eyring said: "When we experience trials, it is not necessarily because we did something wrong, but because they will "polish" us so we are ready to go back HOME."
     - Jeffery R. Holland said: "We are ALL EQUAL in the sight of God."
     - L Tom Perry said: 'The Book of Mormon is a tender mercy of the lord." This quote is so very true. He loves us so much, and the BOM is just a way that he has shown this too us.

I have so many more, but i hate reading long blog entries, so i will do my best not to write long ones. But i just know that i am so blessed to be a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is such a great blessing.

Thanks for reading. :)

Just a Little About Me.

Ok, so you have probably already read my short "About me" paragraph on the side. But i thought i would make a post about me too.
I don't want to go to detailed because i have no idea who is reading this, so i will stay pretty vague. But obviously i am Mandy. I am new to "blogging". I have a few interests. Some of which are:
  - Medicine (The Subject, not the actual "Drug")
  - School.
  - Sleeping.
  - Ok i know that this one is cheesy, but i do like to watch the kid TV show Arthur.
  - I love anything to do with the human body. (yes this kind of goes along with the first one.)
  - YW ( Young Women, The LDS church)

Now that you know a little bit about what i like. I guess could talk about each of them a little.
  - Medicine: I honestly don't know why i like this subject so much. It just has always interested me. I think that the Human body is one amazing machine. And the Technology used to help that machine when it gets a little "slow" is miraculous. It is so cool to me. This subject is also what i would like to do with my self someday. I hope to become a Pediatric Doctor of some kind. So that is hopefully where i will end up one day.
  - School: Yes i am fully aware of the fact that most teenagers are not huge fans of school. I on the other hand quite enjoy it. I love going to school and being able to learn something new. I really enjoy the challenge of school. Yes i do think it gets annoying sometimes. But all in all i like school.
  - Sleeping: Do i really have to go into detail about this one. What teen doesn't like their beauty rest. Hello???
  - Arthur: I honestly have no idea why i like this one. I just always have, and probably always will. What can i say, i am a child at heart.
  - The Human Body: I pretty much already talked about this one in the Medicine paragraph.
  - YW: As you have probably already read, i am indeed a Member of the LDS church. And one of my FAVORITE parts about this Gospel is the Young Women program. It really is a huge part of my life. So that is why i enjoy that so much.

Well, that sums up everything i mentioned. I hope that gives you a little more insight about me. Thanks for reading! : )

So Much to be Grateful For.

Its finally here! I have been waiting for spring break for, what feels like forever now. I am so desperately needing this break from school. I need this time to get caught up on my homework, however my life here in America is  not near as stressful as my kindergarten Niece's end of year tests.
I have a lot to be grateful for. Just to list a few:
    - Spring Break.
    - A loving family.
    - Being a Member of the LDS church.
    - The pretty low-stress life i have.
    - Great friends.
    - Good Health.

The third one is EXTREMELY important to me. I am so grateful to know that i have so much to look forward too. I have the knowledge that lots of people lack. I get to become a strong young lady because of who i have grown up knowing. I have such strong Young Women leader, and i also have such a strong family who i can always look up too. Being a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has made me who i am today. I am eternally grateful to the Missionaries that came to my mom.

That last one is also really important to me. I have read some blogs of children who have serious medical conditions, and it just really shows me what i have to be grateful for. It shows me that the "big" things in my life could be so much BIGGER. I have never had to endure anything super hard. I have never been super sick (That i can remember.) I have really had a pretty easy life. : )
